Ozone layer sits in the lower region of the stratosphere from about 20-30 km above earth’s surface.
Thickness about 3-5 mm – fluctuates depending on the season and geography.
Ozone layer contains ozone which is a naturally occurring molecule composed of three oxygen atoms – ozone molecules for a gaseous layer
Lower region of the stratosphere containing relatively higher concentration of ozone – ozonosphere.
Ozonosphere is found 15-35 km above the surface of earth.
Ozone layer protects life on earth from strong UV radiation that comes from the sun – it absorbs UV rays (97-99%).
There is also a kind of ozone developed just above the ground as a result of sun rays coming into contact with pollution in the atmosphere. This is hazardous to human health.
